MEET DYVAR

Experience and Commitment

I am delighted to announce my candidacy for St. Francisville Town Alderman, Section 2. As a proud resident of St. Francisville, Louisiana, I am committed to serving our community, listening to our residents, and working together to build a stronger future for our town.

I am running for alderman because I believe St. Francisville’s best days are ahead of us. This town raised me, shaped me, and gave me the foundation to serve, and I am proud to call it home. I understand the values, challenges, and opportunities that come with rural life because I have lived them.

St. Francisville is more than just my home—it is a community I deeply love and am honored to serve. I believe our town and parish deserve leadership that is accessible, transparent, honest, and focused on practical solutions. As your alderman, I will listen to the people, work collaboratively with local officials, businesses, and citizens, and make decisions based on what is best for our entire community.

I will represent every resident with honesty, respect, and integrity while working to preserve the unique character that makes St. Francisville special and to build a stronger future for generations to come. I believe in listening to your concerns and always putting our community first.

Over the years, I have been honored to serve on the boards of several organizations that are dedicated to preserving our history, supporting our community, and improving the lives of those around us:

·     Friends of the Old Benevolent Society

·     Historical Society and Museum

·     Louisiana Prison Museum and Cultural                Center

·     Council on Aging

·     West Feliciana Parish Hospital

I was also honored to serve as president of the St. Francisville Rotary Club for 2024–2025.

In 2023, I founded Tell the Story Cultural Festival held at Parker Park to celebrate history, heritage, and community. Families shared treasured memorabilia and stories while enjoying food, music, art and crafts, creating a meaningful celebration of the diverse traditions and experiences that connect the community, build understanding, and bring people together.

Each of these opportunities has taught me how to listen, build partnerships, and bring people together to accomplish meaningful goals for our community.

My commitment to leadership, however, began during my college years at Southern University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in business management and served as president of the Executive Club for the College of Business. I later earned a Master of Science in instructional design and technology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, further strengthening my skills in leadership, communication, and organizational development.

Throughout my career, I have served in administrative and leadership technology roles across healthcare, education, business, and parish government. These experiences have provided me with the knowledge and skills to manage resources responsibly, solve problems effectively, and serve the public with accountability and transparency.

Perhaps most important, my education began in St. Francisville, where I was a member of the Class of 1980, West Feliciana High School’s first graduating class. I was raised right here in St. Francisville by my grandparents, Willard Anderson, Sr., and Beatrice Barrow Anderson, whose lives of faith, hard work, and service shaped the person I am today. They taught me the importance of family, honesty, integrity, and giving back to the community. Those values continue to guide me in every aspect of my life and public service.

Their sons carried forward that tradition of service. My uncle Willard Anderson, Jr., was a lifelong resident, local Chevrolet mechanic (where the current post office now stands), and parish school bus driver. My father, Emmett Anderson, an architect, was a graduate of Howard University. My uncle Herbert Anderson, Sr., a Southern University graduate, served as an educator, principal, and FAA federal investigator. Together, they served our nation in the Army and Marine Corps during World War II.

Our family worshipped at the former Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church (currently Powell Moise Dance Studio) where faith, community, and service were at the center of our lives.

I am a devoted mother of adults—three daughters and one son.

I grew up here, I love this town, and I believe our best days are still ahead. I will be honored to have your vote on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (or early vote October 20–27), and the opportunity to serve as your alderman.
